A quick to the
point Dell XPS M1530 laptop review.
Dell XPS M1530 Laptop Review
Dell
XPS laptops in our opinion are a jump ahead of the
standard Inspiron laptops when it comes to features, performance, and
style. While we are
honestly big fans of
both the regular Inspiron and XPS line, we personally feel the XPS
models are
especially cool.
When we first got our hands on a Dell
Inspiron XPS M1530 we
instantly came to the conclusion that it is without a doubt a solid
15.4-inch
laptop that is as impressive looking as its configuration options and
price. In
fact it is up there upon our
top list of great looking 15-inch class laptops right now. On top of its sleek looks
its starting
configuration is only $999 too. Not
bad
at all.
To satisfy all
of us color crazy folks the Dell Inspiron XPS
M1530 even have a few exterior color options including Crimson Red,
Tuxedo
Black, and Alpine White. While
not as many
color choices as the regular Dell Inspiron line it is still great to
see a few
options nevertheless. We’ve
personally
seen all XPS M1530 colors in person and we have to admit all were very
styling
with a finish quality that looked excellent.
When
not admiring exterior appearance
the Dell XPS M1530 is a highly configurable laptop to boot and as of
this
review Dell does offer an impressive array of features. Pick from an available Intel Core 2 Duo
processor up to 2.6GHz, a solid and let’s not forget gamer capable
256MB
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, a less powerful but still great
multimedia/light
gaming 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, and even an optional HD 1920 x
1200 pixel
high resolution screen or next-gen Blue-Ray player among other cool features.
The
XPS M1530 even has an Apple
MacBook like slot-loading DVD/Blue-Ray disk drive, touch-sensitive
media control
buttons, and a sweet HDMI-output jack.
The
HDMI output is especially cool for you can literally plug a Blue-Ray
drive
equipped XPS M1530 into any HD LCD or plasma display for an instant
portable HD
player. Sweet!
The keyboard tray is brushed silver and it has black accents. You will also find the touch-sensitive
controls for volume and media playback and an eject button for the slot-loading
DVD drive. There’s also a nice little bonus small
credit-card sized remote control that is tucked into the Express Card slot.
For some potential laptop buyers the
extra bells are whistles won’t justify the higher price premium over
the Inspiron line, though
for others the stylish designs, built-in webcam & microphone standard,
finger print reader, HDMI output, and pre-installed Adobe video & photo
editing software may
just sell the ticket.
If
you are looking for something a bit smaller than the XPS M1530 the XPS
line of laptops also offer a 13.3-inch
laptop that ways less than 4 pounds and claims to get up to 7 hours of
battery life with the optional 9-cell battery. Not bad we say. Overall,
the Dell XPS laptops come in 13.3, 15.4, 17, and 20-inch flavors.
