Asus
Eee Netbook Computer
We overview and
review the Asus Eee netbook PC laptop computer.
The
Asus
Eee Netbook PC
The Asus Eee PC is a netbook
style laptop computer by Asus and a part of their Asus Eee PC line of
laptops.
The Asus
Eee PC netbook was
introduced in late 2007 and quickly became popular because they were
light
weight, ran a light and efficient Linux operating system, had new tech
solid-state hard drives and sold at a sub $500 price range.
As
the Asus Eee PC netbook progressed over
the years newer models have added the option of the Windows XP
operating system
so they were more accepted by mainstream users.
Also
traditional hard disk drives became
an offering thus giving the Asus Eee PC larger storage capacity over
the pure
solid-state hard drive options of earlier models.
Of course solid-state drives are still on
option on many current models for the technology is superior in regards
to
shock resistance, speed and more. So despite their storage capacity
limits of
the SSD style hard-drive, we will surely see them offered into the
future.
Newer
Asus Eee netbook PC models have
increased in price, though they still remain relatively inexpensive as
laptops,
and most notably inexpensive for ultra-small laptops. These super small
and
compact line of low cost ultra-compact laptops are actually referred to
as netbooks
in the tech world instead of the traditional laptop designation.
Asus
Eee Netbook PC's and Competitors
Quick Tidbit -
The word netbook is a term
originally coined by Intel for a specific
kind of sub-compact notebook that emphasizes on power management
features, uber
small size of course, and basic operating systems.
Netbooks
use processors requiring the least
amount of power to run effectively.
A
common processor used in netbooks such as the Asus Eee Netbook is the
Intel
Atom line of processors.
The
Intel Atom
is a special purpose ultra-low voltage processing brain designed by the
processor industry guru’s over at Intel Corporation.
In
a nutshell Asus Eee Netbook PC and
other netbooks on the market are small laptops designed for basic usage
such as
internet access, occasional word processing, and other light duty
computing
duties. While
Asus
Eee PC Netbooks have small screens
because of the super compact nature of netbooks, Asus offers a
slew of screen size options to meet the needs of just about anyone.
Asus offers 7, 9, 10, and 10+ inch
netbook models at the time of this writing.

Asus Eee PC 9-inch netbooks
include the T91, 904HA, 904HD, 901, 900SD, 900HA, 900HD, 900A &
900.
Last
but definitely not least are their
7-inch line of netbooks. Popular
models
include the 701SDX and 701SD. These
models are very easy to use and offer some extreme mobility according
to Asus
and we can vouch for them in regards to this claim.
Fun
Fact -
According to Asus, the name
Eee derives from "the three Es,"
an abbreviation of its advertising slogan for the device: "Easy to
learn,
Easy to work, Easy to play".
We
see the Asus Eee Netbook PC’s vastly
growing over the next few years as netbooks are further taking over the
mobile
landscape like crazy and Asus has set the bar early on with the
original Asus Eee
PC 901 release in 2007 and we don’t see Asus netbook laptops going
anywhere
anytime soon.
Since
this netbook form factor was first
introduced by Asus the overwhelming success of the netbook in the world
market
has led Asus to greatly expand its line and other major manufacturers
including
Dell, HP, Sony, Samsung, and many others have released many netbooks of
their
own.
We
have been big fans of the Asus Eee PC
since their 2007 inception. I
mean who
wouldn’t want a super small cool looking laptop for under $500? Exactly!
Conclusion:

In
the end keep in mind that the Asus Eee
Netbook PC’s are truly marketable towards computer users that need
basic
computing on the go, or even more advanced computer users who are
simply
looking for a secondary machine to compliment their primary desktop
workstation
or laptop.
For
most users we can’t honestly recommend
a netbook as a primary computing machine, though many of the newer
models will
make a great primary machine for a young tech adventurer.
We
also feel the Asus Eee PC netbooks will
make a great semi-cheap though super cool valentine or birthday gift
for
anyone.
Happy Purchasing!
